Group Sessions

Group sessions are the perfect opportunity to learn about photographing the night sky in a small group environment. This session is comprehensive and takes you from start to finish, from camera to computer. We will spend an evening under the stars covering everything you need to know, and then meet the next day for a classroom session to put all of the puzzle pieces together. Although it's a group session, there is plenty of time for one-on-one, and I make sure each student is up to speed throughout our time together. See you out there!

About My Workshops

Class curriculum covers a range of shooting techniques and genres, but helping you capture your vision in one shot is my number one goal. We’ll work together to help you get it right in camera, so you can spend less time editing and more time shooting! All workshops include a PDF file of the class notes so you can revisit the curriculum at your leisure. Also I'm always available through email to answer any questions!

Workshop FAQ

  • Do I need any special equipment?

The most basic requirements for this workshop are a camera and a tripod. I also recommend a wide angle, wide aperture lens, such as the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens, or similar. A remote shutter release is recommended, particularly for the star trail portion of the workshop, but it is not required. I am a firm believer in getting the most out of whatever equipment you already possess. I will work with each student to make sure we get the most performance out of your existing equipment.

  • What if there are clouds?

Because there are commonly low clouds and fog on the coast, I always have a backup location prepared. In all of the years I have been teaching these courses, the backup location has always delivered a mostly clear sky. Fear not!

  • Have any other questions?

Send me an email and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have before registering:

"I have taught several photography classes and clients. I was also a teacher for 31 years and believe I know the qualities of a fine educator. Brady Cabe is among the best I have seen and learned from. His attention to detail is only surpassed by his preparation and commitment to his students, who by the way, become friends very easily. If you are reading this then just take the class! An adventure awaits you, both in subject matter and most of all . . . in Brady"

-Bob

"I had the pleasure of taking Brady's astrophotography workshop in June 2015. Brady is a knowledgeable and well prepared instructor. He is also very flexible and ready to listen to the people he is instructing. I have been a photographer for many years, and yet Brady was able to give me valuable information and insight, that was new, and helps me in my creative endeavors.

I would recommend Brady Cabe for any class he may teach, because I know he will do all that is necessary, and required, to create a great experience for those involved!."

-Dan

"I took Brady's astrophotography workshop last weekend. I can say without doubt it's best photography workshop I ever took. His planning was immaculate and he was constantly in touch with the participants providing weather and location updates until an hour before the workshop. He selected 3 locations for the shoot (from the most to least desirable) and we ended up going to the 3rd location because of the weather. If he hadn't planned, we would have come back with cloudy skies. He spent the first hour explaining camera settings and exposure which was above and beyond any paid workshops (including Nikon) I'd been to. We didn't have worry about the camera settings for the rest of the night. I'd strongly recommend his workshop. I wish he's closer to so cal so I could attend all his workshops. Nevertheless, I'll definitely attend his future workshops whenever possible."

-Senthil

"Brady Cabe presented an excellent astrophotography workshop in June at Carizzo Plain National Monument.!  I have been on many outings with different photo leaders and Brady made a great impression on me.  Quick response to many questions before the workshop.  He scouted sites before the workshop and had backup plans in case the weather didn't cooperate with clear skies. For in the field instruction, he was very thorough instructing us with what we needed to know. He also gave us one-on-one attention for our individual needs. He made arrangements ahead of time for a modern private classroom and taught us many techniques for post-processing astrophotography images. He is very knowledgeable and patient.  In addition, he followed up with many notes of the instruction material.  And, what's more,he is a super nice guy.  I will look forward excitedly to attending future workshops given by Brady Cabe.  I can hardly wait! I would strongly recommend taking his workshops based on my recent experience."
